Happy St. Patrick's Day...and other mess like that

Sometimes I have the best intentions. I am going to wake up early in the morning, have coffee with my husband before he leaves for work, and then immediately jump into cleaning the house, making breakfast for Canon, and do activities and crafts with the little man all day.

Today was one of those days.

I woke up early, had coffee with Craig and saw him off to work. As soon as he left, I got busy cleaning the kitchen and editing some photos for the blog. Canon woke up earlier than I expected him to and wanted to cuddle. Hey, no complaints here, so we sat down on the couch, curled up in a blanket, and watched TMNT...at which point I started nodding off. Uh oh, not a good start to this so-called "productive day".

I made breakfast, which apparently wasn't enough because I was hungry again about an hour after we ate. I started thinking about an early lunch and - surprise of all surprises to anyone who knows Canon - he wanted a cheese quesadilla. I started grating the cheese and cut my finger on the piece of crap grater that we have. Fun times.

We played a couple of board games, none of which Canon wanted to actually follow the directions on or pay attention to - nevermind the fact that he is the one that asked to play them. My patience was wearing thin.

I don't know if it is the dreary, rainy weather or the fact that I slept so horribly last night, but I am having trouble focusing on anything today. I was determined, though, to teach Canon about St. Patrick's Day today and to do a craft with him as a fun teaching tool. To make things easy, I decided we would just create a pot-o'-gold-at-the-end-of-a-rainbow picture. Boring...sue me. So I got out the construction paper, crayons, gold glitter, scissors, and glue. I began cutting out a big pot, which turned out looking like a lop-sided fat man until about 20 cuts later when I finally gave up and told him that is what pots look like in Ireland.

I tried to glue the "Irish pot" onto the white construction paper, only to find that the glue top was apparently clogged. No worries. I took the top off, and after getting glue all over my hands, managed to clean it up and thought it would be working again. Instead, I squeezed the bottle until the top flew off and ended up spilling the entire bottle of glue onto the paper, which I then had to drain back into the glue bottle. Needless to say, there is a ton of gold glitter in this pot o' gold. Oh, and a few stamps of witches below the rainbow for good measure. Hey, witches and Irish pots cauldrons go together, right? Close enough. {Forgive the phone picture. That is all the energy I could muster today. #lazy #winning}

Canon still has no idea why we celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I still haven't cleaned the bathrooms. Or taken a shower.

Can I have a redo on today?

Top o' the mornin' to ya. Here's hoping the rest of the day will get easier.

    1. Girl, yes. I thought those of us with Irish blood were automatically supposed to have the luck in our veins. Apparently it skipped me.
