A hiking we will go

First of all, sorry about the lack of post yesterday. I have run into a bit of an issue with my car's transmission - yes, again - and I was tied up with the mess of all it. Trust me, I will regale you with all of the lovely details soon enough.

Now, back to the matter at hand. One of the activities that we wanted to do before leaving Pensacola was hiking with Sonia, her boyfriend Jim and dog River. They are avid outdoor adventurers and even rescued River during one of their many camping trips. They really know what they are doing and know the great spots to explore. So when she invited us to hike some trails on the University of West Florida campus, we jumped at the chance.

As this sign states, you have to be on the lookout for snakes but only one gator. I bet that is a lonely reptile.

I let Sonia, Canon, and River walk ahead so they could spend some quality time together. Sonia pointed out different trees, plants, and animals along the way. Canon got to hold River's leash. And of course, I got to take pictures of them. All was right with the world.

That boy loves River so much that he may as well belong to Canon. He even named his stuffed puppy after this dog.

This dog and his boy raced back and forth and had so much fun that they both fell out that night and slept like rocks.

As we were leaving, I told Canon he had to hold someone's hand to cross the road. Jim is such a quiet man, but Canon just accepts this and immediately grabbed for his hand. A sweet moment that I am glad I was able to capture.

Craig and I love Sonia and she loves us, but the love that she and Canon {and River} have is so incredibly special. I am so thankful that she became part of our family before we moved. Now she is stuck with us forever - whether she likes it or not.

I hope you have a great day and I will see you back here tomorrow!
