Wanderlust Wednesday : Feeding my desire

The best thing, I think, about living in Georgia is having easy access to places to explore. It has been such an amazing feeling to just jump in the car and drive to state and national parks on a whim. To hike trails, see wildlife, and experience amazing views that are mere minutes from our house. This has definitely helped to fulfill my wanderlust spirit. Make no mistake, though. I haven't forgotten that I want to see the world. Like, all of it. I am just exploring my own amazingly beautiful country right now.

With that said, I thought I would leave you with a few phrases and photos that will hopefully spark your desire to explore. You can travel all over the world or even in your own backyard. Just do it.

We do live in such an incredible world and if you limit yourself, while exploring, to only doing, seeing, or eating things that you already know then you aren't really seeing the world for what it is. So you are first-class flight, hotel, breakfast-in-bed type? Sounds great to me! Just try this, at least once. Grab a backpack, a rail ticket or even your car, and go to a destination whose culture is completely different from yours. You don't have to be in a different country or a different continent to experience things that you have never been exposed to before. Get out of your comfort zone. Once you are there, vow to stay away from the tourist traps and instead visit local hangouts, eat that cultural delicacy, go off the beaten path. Only then will you begin to get a glimpse of what that culture is really like. Trust me, it will be worth it. The knowledge and memories you will gain from seeing and doing far outweighs the fear of unknowing that you will start out with.

Amen and amen to this below. I am a text book definition of how routine can begin to kill you. So go and do. No one ever regretted at least trying something new, whatever the outcome.

So get out there. Explore new {to you} worlds. Then come back and tell me all about it so I can put it on my list!
