Wanderlust : Disney World 2013 - Day 5

After the excitement of Jake yesterday (oh yeah, and all of the other stuff), we decided that it was adult's choice all day.  We had breakfast with Grandpa at the hotel and saw him off before heading to EPCOT!  We broke this park out into two different days.  Canon was pretty exhausted after 4 days of constant stimulation, so he got cozy in the stroller and we rolled through the countries' exhibits for the day.

The EPCOT World Showcase happens to be the favorite of all Disney World spaces for both Craig and me.  Each country is as authentic as you can get without actually leaving Florida. Even the cast members (workers) in each country actually hail from that country. (Italians work in Italy, British work in England, etc)  Disney brought in architects and masons from places like Morocco to ensure that the Moroccan pavilion was as close to the actual place as possible.  Artisans from Mexico make handmade goods that you can buy in the replica of an Aztec pyramid.  In Norway, Vikings will pillage your belongings while running around half-naked and screaming "It's a good day to die!" before jumping in their ship and sailing off to the other side of the small lake. Ok, not exactly but you get the idea. Incredible attention to detail, I tell ya.

You know when I was talking about the food at Disney being the best ever?  This place houses 99% of that.  Every type of food from around the world can be enjoyed and it is all beyond delicious.  The actual sit-down restaurants are worth whatever limb you choose to pay with.  No small children will be accepted as currency here.  This is Disney World.  Let's be civil. 

We were visiting during the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival.  This happens every spring and I don't know how many hours are spent pruning the shrubbery (ha! Monty Python!), or when they do it (must be at 2 am when no one is around), but the artistry is amazing.  Take a look at this!

 

In all, we visited 11 countries in one day.  World travelers, we are.  Would you like a look-see?  Of course you would.

Of course, this doesn't mean that the real countries are checked off of my Wanderlist.  Nice try, Craig.  Not happening. 

Sidenote:  I realize that some of these pictures are very similar.  I couldn't decide whether I liked them better in black-and-white or color so I posted them both.  If that annoys you, then I implore you to click the little box in the top right corner with an 'x' in it.  I hope you don't though.  I like having you here.  

Oh, and I will end with a gratuitous super cute kid shot - and yes, I realize the photo quality isn't that great, but I can't help myself when it comes to this kiddo.

Only one more day to go in our Disney adventure.  I am almost as sad now as I was when we were actually there.  Just kidding.  Craig and I were READY by day 6 to go home.  I will tell you all about it Monday!
